Dynamic concept sets scene for electric vehicles

The electric avenue expo and an event held at the same time, KLASSIKWELT BODENSEE, attract more than 43,000 visitors between them. Test courses provide an electrifying driving experience

e-mobility gets on the move: It was full speed ahead at “the electric avenue” for electric vehicles on two, three and four wheels. Heads turned and much enthusiasm was shown by visitors who tested the vehicles. For four days, everyone interested received information from 38 exhibitors about of electro-mobility and went for a spin on the test course. Around 130 industry experts met at the INCOVIsion conference and many interested parties watched the eCar Awards ceremony. More than 43,000 fans were attracted to “the electric avenue expo” – and to the vintage car show KLASSIKWELT BODENSEE which was taking place at the same time in the show grounds in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance.

”The KLASSIKWELT BODENSEE and the electric avenue expo fit perfectly together and this was demonstrated once again this year. A large proportion of the visitors had a deep interest in historic and trend-setting vehicles. The idea of holding the two shows in parallel has clearly proven a success,” said Klaus Wellmann, show director, and Roland Bosch, project manager, summarising their impressions. According to a visitor survey, 85 per cent of those asked at the vintage show were also interested in vehicles of the future.

A great attraction at the second edition of the Expo for sustainable mobility was provided by the two test courses in the hall and outdoors which were rated positively by visitors and exhibitors. “The Friedrichshafen show provides us with a wonderful opportunity to enthuse fans by offering a unique Tesla Roadster experience,” explains Craig Davis, Sales and Marketing Director Europe at Tesla Motors.

The first emissions-free tour of Lake Constance by the Opel HydroGen4 as part of the electric avenue expo grabbed the headlines. “We are involved with the mobility of the future and our concept is expanding here in Friedrichshafen. We will return,” said Uwe P. Deller, director of Technology Communication at Adam Opel GmbH, with satisfaction.

The exhibition demonstrated that it was an eventful and useful information platform for sustainable mobility – not only for consumers but also for trade visitors. For the first time, in conjunction with its partners, the show awarded the “eCar Award” in the following three categories: vehicle, technology and personality. Also for the first time, 130 industry experts met at the INCOVISion conference to discuss the future of mobility.

The electric avenue, the exhibition for sustainable mobility, will take place again next year in parallel with KLASSIKWELT BODENSEE Exhibitors will present the advances they have made in the electro-mobility sector in Friedrichshafen from 2 – 5 June 2011.
